Beauty on four wheels from Alfa Romeo

From a concept car that received much applause from automobile journalists worldwide, Alfa Romeo has decided to initially build 500 limited edition units of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The car's name is a tribute to the 6C 2500 Competizione, the sports coupé driven by Fangio and Zanardi in the famous Mille Miglia race in 1950. Strong curves dictates the car's main styling which was done by the Alfa Romeo Style Center. Outside, there is no mistaking this as a truly Italian sports car with the classic triangular-shield grille in front. At the back 2 circular rear lights and quad exhausts carry on with the all too familiar sports styling. Overall exterior design has cues of the classic Jaguar E-Type with a much more curvaceous hood.

While the design benefits from Alfa Romeo, the chassis of the car was tuned by an Alfa-Maserati outfit which should ensure sporty handling. The car will also be powered by a Maserati-derived 4.7-liter V8 which will launch this car into the supercar category.

Composite materials abound within the interior of the Alfa with a wrap-around dash that is strkingly similar to another supercar - the GT40. Bucket leather seats with a 3 spoke sports steering wheel adds on to the sportiness of the cabin which is trimmed in black with matt aluminium. The final result is a car that makes it irresistible just based on the looks and packaging alone. That is probably why Alfa Romeo might bank on this car to enter the world's largest auto market in the United States.
