Roadster version of the Audi TT for next year's summer

The refreshing new TT was an evolution of the original hit which was very well received around the world. With such a beautiful evolution of the coupe, Audi sees to it that a topless version arrives to make it a beautiful pair. Clean, classy and pure lines make the new TT Roadster much more desirable. What makes this new roadster much more desirable is its fully automated soft-top, converting it into a really practical sports roadster.

This is especially so when the car is specced with the 3.2 liter V6 engine which also graces the Golf R32. With the body built mainly from aluminium and steel makes the new TT roadster a lightweight in its category. As all Audi models, the TT can also be optioned in all wheel drive by quattro and this makes the TT roadster an all season convertible which is rare even in this age.

Opening the soft top in 12 seconds will unveil a similar cabin to that of the TT coupe with the 3.2 liter version dressed in alcantra/leather combination. A larger interior will also make the cabin less clautrophobic in the event of rain. This new car is a totally competent one to carry the laurels of previous best-selling roadster and it should arrive in time for the new year for anyone keen to get one.

Beauty on four wheels from Alfa Romeo

From a concept car that received much applause from automobile journalists worldwide, Alfa Romeo has decided to initially build 500 limited edition units of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The car's name is a tribute to the 6C 2500 Competizione, the sports coupé driven by Fangio and Zanardi in the famous Mille Miglia race in 1950. Strong curves dictates the car's main styling which was done by the Alfa Romeo Style Center. Outside, there is no mistaking this as a truly Italian sports car with the classic triangular-shield grille in front. At the back 2 circular rear lights and quad exhausts carry on with the all too familiar sports styling. Overall exterior design has cues of the classic Jaguar E-Type with a much more curvaceous hood.

While the design benefits from Alfa Romeo, the chassis of the car was tuned by an Alfa-Maserati outfit which should ensure sporty handling. The car will also be powered by a Maserati-derived 4.7-liter V8 which will launch this car into the supercar category.

Composite materials abound within the interior of the Alfa with a wrap-around dash that is strkingly similar to another supercar - the GT40. Bucket leather seats with a 3 spoke sports steering wheel adds on to the sportiness of the cabin which is trimmed in black with matt aluminium. The final result is a car that makes it irresistible just based on the looks and packaging alone. That is probably why Alfa Romeo might bank on this car to enter the world's largest auto market in the United States.

Audi launches first supercar, the Audi R8 in Paris

Audi launched its first ever supercar in the recent Paris Auto Show. Based on the Audi Le Mans prototype, this mid-engine V8 churns out 480 bhp and is fully equipped with the famed quattro all wheel drive train. The sculpted V8 FSI engine takes centre attraction and it could be considered a beautiful masterpiece. A V10 engine version of this supercar is also expected and it would truly be interesting to see the V10 R8 compete with the Lamborghini Gallardo, its distant brethren.

The face of the R8 showcases a sleek grille which identifies this sports car with the Auto Union heritage. On the side, a two-tone paneling creates a very elegant look combined with the sloping roofline that is reminiscent of the TT. The car ends with an automatically extending rear spoiler that would be deployed to make the R8 more stable at high speeds.

Inside, the familiar Audi steering wheel found in Audi's S-line cars makes its appearance and the whole interior resembles a flight cockpit with black controls with chrome surrounds geared towards the driver. Unlike most sports cars with small gear levers, the R8 features a stout metallic gear lever. Special bucket seats designed by Audi’s quattro division provide the final unique look for Audi's first supercar.
